Consolidating Small Orders for a Small Market
Many New Zealand businesses buy from several suppliers at once, in quantities that would leave a container half empty. Rather than paying for separate small shipments, you can have every supplier deliver to our Shenzhen warehouse, where goods are checked against your order, repacked if needed, and loaded together.
- LCL consolidation for mixed orders, often moving via a larger hub port before the final leg to New Zealand.
- Full container (FCL) once your combined volume justifies one, delivered to Auckland or Tauranga for the North Island, Lyttelton for Christchurch and Canterbury, or Wellington for the lower North Island.
- Air cargo and courier for new-season stock, samples, and online-store orders that cannot wait for a sailing.

Packing for MPI Biosecurity and NZ Customs
Two agencies clear your goods. The New Zealand Customs Service handles the import entry and collects GST and any duty, while the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) checks biosecurity risk. MPI expects solid wood pallets and crates to be ISPM 15 treated and marked, and cargo and containers to arrive clean, without soil, insects, seeds, or plant debris.
Because we build crates and pallets in our own factory, we can choose ISPM 15-marked timber, plywood, or plastic pallets to suit each load, and clean and inspect cartons before they go into the container. Exact transit times and costs are quoted per shipment once we know the suppliers, volume, and delivery address.
New Zealand Import FAQ
Why is LCL so common for shipments from China to New Zealand?
New Zealand is a smaller market, and many importers bring in mixed orders from several Chinese suppliers that do not fill a whole container. Less-than-container-load (LCL) service lets you share container space and pay only for the volume you use. We collect goods from each factory into our Shenzhen warehouse, check and repack them, and send them as one consignment, which also means one set of import documents instead of several small ones.
Is there a direct ship from China, or does cargo transship?
Some services sail direct, but a lot of New Zealand-bound cargo is transshipped through a larger hub port in Asia or Australia, where it moves to a vessel serving Auckland, Tauranga, Lyttelton, or Wellington. Transshipment affects the overall transit time and the risk of a missed connection, so we tell you which routing each quote uses. Exact timing is confirmed per shipment, because it depends on the carrier and the current schedule.
What does MPI check when goods arrive from China?
New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries manages biosecurity at the border. Solid wood packaging must meet ISPM 15 and carry the mark, and containers and cargo are expected to be clean, with no soil, insects, seeds, plant material, or other contamination. Some product types also have their own import health standards. If MPI finds a problem, the shipment can be held for inspection, treated, or sent back, so we clean, repack, and check packaging materials in Shenzhen before loading.
Who collects GST and duty on imports into New Zealand?
The New Zealand Customs Service clears imported goods and collects GST and any customs duty that applies, usually through a customs broker acting for the importer. MPI biosecurity clearance runs alongside the customs process. Your broker or accountant can confirm how GST is handled for your business; we make sure the commercial invoice, packing list, and packaging description are complete and match the actual goods.
